Why this exists

A bid tabulation is the one public document where several companies price the same drawings and specification on the same day. The spread between them is the estimating problem, quantified. We started harvesting FDOT's tabulations to answer one question, what a floating dock actually costs in the open market, and found that the answer lived in itemized PDFs nobody had indexed and that FDOT's own summary reports do not carry. So we indexed them, extracted the marine prices, and published both.

Mavlon builds AI quoting software for custom fabricators. The data pages are deliberately separate from that: no signup, no gating, a plain license, and a citation block. Use them whether or not you ever talk to us.

Principles

  • Public record only. Every row traces to a document a public body published. No client data, ever.
  • As printed. Prices, names and descriptions are transcribed, not modelled or adjusted. Our only additions are classification labels and links.
  • Versioned and citable. Releases carry a version, a date, a changelog, and a citation; the GitHub release is archived with a DOI.
  • Corrections welcome. Write to atishay@mavlon.co and the fix ships in the next version with credit.

Why does a quoting-software company publish bid data?
Because the spread between bidders on identical documents is the estimating problem made visible, and nobody else was publishing it. Mavlon builds software that reads bid packages for custom fabricators; the data pages exist so estimators, owners and researchers can check real prices against real lettings, whether or not they ever talk to us.

Will more sources be added?
Yes: FDOT district lettings as they post, coastal county and city marina lettings, port authorities, and FWC boat-ramp grant projects, which is where floating dock work actually bids. Each addition is a new version with a changelog entry.
