AI quoting for data center equipment manufacturers

Quote data center jobs faster than your competitor.

Data center buyers want a price fast, and every supplier is busy. Mavlon's AI Quoting Engine turns each bid package into a priced draft quote in your own pricing within minutes, so your team answers first, bids on more of the work and stops losing jobs to slow quotes. Your estimator checks it and sets the final number.

From a public data center generator package
  • E60The engineer's sizing sheet asks for at least 298 kW.
  • E50The main electrical drawing shows a 300 kW generator.
  • AdThe bid advertisement names a 350 ekW unit as the basis of design.
  • p.136A permanent load bank is in the specification and on no drawing.

Three sizes, $27,800 apart in our sample quote. The draft prices both readings and writes the question for the owner, so the decision is made on the first day, not after the award.

Why speed decides who wins

When every supplier is booked, a fast, credible quote decides who gets the work.

Data center construction is pulling hard on power equipment. Reuters reported in July 2026 that lead times for generator step-up transformers passed 160 weeks, and that data center construction is driving demand for circuit breakers and switchgear. On Generac's February 2026 earnings call, its chief executive said competitors were “out kind of 2 years on deliveries.” When buyers wait that long for equipment, the supplier who answers first, with a price the buyer can trust, gets the next conversation.

From a data center bid package to a priced draft quote

A data center bid package is long. The generator package in our guide runs to 291 pages across a specification, drawings, forms and an addendum, and reading all of it before pricing is what turns a quote into a job that takes days.

The AI Quoting Engine reads the whole package and prices it the way your company prices, with every line tied to its page. Your estimator spends the time on the few decisions that move the price, and your quote goes out before your competitor's.

What goes in

The whole bid package, not one drawing.

Data center equipment is rarely quoted from a part number. It is quoted from someone else's documents, and the price depends on all of them read together.

Specification sections

What the equipment must do and what comes with it: ratings, tests, warranty, service and spares.

The generator section asks for a factory test at rated load and power factor, and 12 months of maintenance with quarterly exercising.

Drawings and schedules

The sizes and the counts, from the one-line diagram and the engineer's sizing table.

The sizing table works out a minimum of 298 kW, and the one-line diagram shows a 300 kW generator.

Sheets E50 and E60
Bid form and addenda

What is priced as one lump sum, what is an alternate, and what changed after the package was issued.

A bidder asked about alternates for a chiller that is not part of the job, and Addendum 1 answered that there are no alternates.

What you get back

A priced draft quote, in your own pricing.

The engine learns how your company prices from your own past bid packages, the quotes you sent and your costing spreadsheets. Every new package then comes back as a draft your estimator can check line by line.

01

Priced lines with their pages

Every line carries a quantity, a price from your own rates and the page that asks for it.

p.146Transfer switch, 4-pole, bypass-isolation, closed transition
02

Calls priced both ways

Where the documents disagree, the draft carries the likely reading and prices the other one beside it. Flip it and the total moves.

03

TBD instead of a guess

A line the package does not settle says TBD, so nobody prices a guess into a firm number.

04

Questions ready for the owner

Anything nobody can answer from the documents becomes a question, already written for your reply.

p.136Is the permanent load bank in the base bid?
Then the quote

Your estimator reviews the draft, changes what they know better, settles the calls and sends the quote, while a competitor is still reading the specification.

What it does not do

It does not design the equipment, decide compliance or set your margin, and it never sends anything to your customer. Your team decides every number that goes out.

How it differs

Most quoting tools start from a part or a catalogue. Data center jobs start from a bid package.

There are good quoting tools on the market, and each was built for a different kind of request. This is where each one fits, so you can choose the right one for data center work.

Kind of toolWhat goes inWhere the price comes fromFits best when
Configure-price-quote toolsTacton, Salesforce Revenue Cloud, Epicor CPQA salesperson picks options from your product catalogue.Pricing rules you set up for each option. You sell standard models, such as a catalogue UPS, that a few choices describe.

We make Mavlon, so read this table with that in mind. Descriptions of other tools come from their own websites in October 2026, and corrections are welcome at atishay@mavlon.co. Many teams use a configurator for standard models and Mavlon for the jobs that arrive as a bid package.

Where it fits

Built for the jobs your competitors quote slowly.

Custom work

Mavlon is the right tool when

  • The request arrives as a bid package: a specification, drawings, a bid form and addenda.
  • Each job is engineered to the customer's requirements: a generator package, a UPS system, switchgear, a power module or cooling.
  • Your senior people spend hours reading before anyone can price.
  • You decline bids you would like to win, or answer them late.
Standard work

A different tool fits better when

  • You sell standard catalogue models that a few options describe. A configurator is faster for that.
  • Your requests are short and name the product clearly. A good estimator will price them faster than any software.
  • You machine single parts from 3D files. Job-shop quoting software is built for that.

We make Mavlon. Corrections are welcome at atishay@mavlon.co.

Prove it on your own quotes

Test it blind on jobs you already priced.

Before you trust it with a live bid, we run it on past jobs your team has already quoted, with the pass mark agreed in writing first.

  1. Pick one product family you quote often, such as generator packages or UPS systems.
  2. Set aside past jobs whose quotes the engine never sees.
  3. The engine prices them from the raw documents.
  4. Compare its totals with the prices your team actually sent.

A US manufacturer of engineered waterfront structures went live in production after a test like this, with drafts within about 2 to 3 percent of its own price on familiar work.

What we have published so far
  • A live customer: a US manufacturer of engineered waterfront structures, name withheld at its request.
  • The Cape Vincent demo: a public 179-page bid package turned into a priced draft quote.
  • The data center generator guide: a public 291-page package, priced line by line.
The pass bar: seven of ten totals within 15 percent, agreed in writing first.
What is AI quoting for data center equipment manufacturers?

It is software that reads a customer's bid package for data center equipment, such as generators, UPS systems, switchgear, power modules or cooling, and drafts a priced quote. Mavlon's AI Quoting Engine does this in the manufacturer's own pricing, with every line tied to the page it came from, so an estimator can check it and send it. It is built for custom manufacturers, sometimes called engineer-to-order manufacturers, who build each generator package or power module to the customer's specification instead of selling it from a catalogue.

How is Mavlon different from a configurator or CPQ tool?

A configurator prices standard options that a salesperson picks from your catalogue. Mavlon starts one step earlier, from the customer's documents, and works out what is being asked for before anything can be priced. Many teams use both: a configurator for standard models and Mavlon for jobs that arrive as a bid package.

How is it different from Paperless Parts, SecturaFAB or Costimator?

Those tools price machined and fabricated parts from part files and drawings, using the part's geometry, its operations and the shop's rates. Mavlon prices engineered equipment from a whole bid package, meaning the specification, drawings, bid form and addenda, in the manufacturer's own pricing. A job shop quoting single parts is better served by them, and a manufacturer answering bid packages for generator sets or switchgear is better served by Mavlon.

Can it quote generators, UPS systems, switchgear and cooling equipment?

It is built for exactly this kind of request. We start with the one product family you quote most, learn your pricing from your past jobs, and test it blind on jobs you already priced before it touches a live bid, so you see how it does on your own products first. How the blind test works.

How does it learn our pricing?

From your own records: past bid packages paired with the quotes you sent, your costing spreadsheets and your rate book. Where a rule is not written down anywhere, it becomes a question for your estimator rather than a guess.

How fast is the draft?

A priced draft comes back within minutes of the upload. The time your estimator then spends depends on how many decisions the package leaves open, and each one arrives already priced both ways.

Does it replace our estimators?

No. It drafts the quote, and your estimator decides. It does not set margins, decide compliance or send anything to your customer. What changes is how many bids your team can answer, and how fast.

Who is behind Mavlon?

Mavlon, Inc. is a US company founded in 2024 by Atishay Jain, an AI engineer. It builds the AI Quoting Engine for custom manufacturers, and it is live in production with a US manufacturer of engineered waterfront structures. Read that case study.
